United Nations Office at Geneva receives EDU Secretary-General

As an accredited Chief Observer at the United Nations Office at Geneva H.E. Irving Le-Vance has direct access to the some of the world’s most important and influential diplomatic and executive institutions.

 

The Secretary-General of the Intergovernmental Organization EDU makes full use of his privileges at the second largest United Nations facility to assist him in his diplomatic endeavours. The United Nations Office at Geneva is second only to the United Nations in New York in size.

His Excellency’s Chief Observer role, derived from his relationship with CCLPW, is at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

ECOSOC was a founding UN Charter body established in 1946 to address the world’s economic, social and environmental challenges. As such, ECOSOC has broad responsibility for some 70% of the human and financial resources of the entire UN system, including 14 specialized agencies, 9 “functional” commissions, and five regional commissions.

​

As a childhood refugee from his family home in Famagusta in Cyprus, as a result of the 1974 Turkish invasion, the Secretary-General reserves a special consideration for the work of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

​

His Excellency Irving Le-Vance visits the UNHCR whenever schedules permit.

​

The following United Nations organizations, including Specialized Agencies, Programmes, Funds, Initiatives, Joint Programmes, and related organizations of the United Nations system all have a presence in Geneva.
